The Championships Policy of Philippine Drum and Lyre Associates Inc. establishes the official framework governing all sanctioned drum and lyre competitions in the Philippines. This policy is designed to ensure fairness, consistency, and excellence across all levels of participation in the marching arts community.

To provide a structured and equitable competitive environment, PDLAI formally recognizes two (2) competition divisions:

SCHOLASTICS CLASS

The Scholastics Class is designed for school-based and developing ensembles. This division focuses on foundational training, discipline, and growth in marching arts performance. It provides opportunities for emerging groups to gain experience, build confidence, and progressively advance their skills in a structured and supportive competitive environment.

OPEN CLASS

The Open Class is intended for highly trained and experienced performing groups. This division represents the highest level of competition, emphasizing advanced technical execution, artistic design, precision, and overall performance excellence. Groups under this category are expected to deliver championship-level presentations aligned with PDLAI standards.

Through these two classifications, PDLAI ensures that all participating groups compete within appropriate levels of skill and development, promoting fairness, inclusivity, and continuous improvement in Philippine drum and lyre competitions.

This Championship Policy serves as a guiding document for all local, regional, and national events, reinforcing PDLAI’s commitment to its vision:

“The Standard of Philippine Marching Arts Excellence.”
